THE FOLK DANCE GROUP SAINT LLÚCIA
                BODY OF DANCE 

                The St. Folk Dance group Llúcia of Reus, their Body of Dance as well as the Dance of Sticks, it was create to the year 1.991, in the city of Reus (Tarragona), her goal him to spread the Catalan typical dances of the nominated Catalan Countries that include the communities of Catalonia.

                 The dances that are represented sleep the that they are danced in these zones, and consist of dances, which we can frame them in a typical folklore of each zone, since they are danced, Typical Dances of Aragon, boleros, copeos, etc. and sleep representative of the civic life, for that sleep elegant and stately and of other than sleep as they were danced in the square senior of the village on the occasion of the parties.

                FOLK DANCERS WITH STICKS

                The group is compound by dancers, of age sanitary napkins among  years, the month small and 20 years the month great. Although traditionally the dance of sticks was interpreted by men, girls are at present the majority, since the weather change and those who integrate into these activities more are the girls nowadays.

               Our repertoire consists of different figures or dances that have kept on being collected during the years, some more antique ones and other of new creation.

                The first performance was on the 25th May of 1.991 within the framework of the provincial encounter of carpenters that is was celebrated in the Palma of Reus (Tarragona), although the official debut had place in the Local Festivity of Saint Pere de Reus (Tarragona) of the same year. From this date our dance of sticks has operated in many populations of Catalonia and Balears, mainly in the Tarragonese regions, participant also in the national encounters of folk dancer with sticks of Catalonia, as well as in the international festivals of the Sardana (there is a representation of the different groups: folk dancers with sticks, devils, castles, etc) celebrated in Luxembourg, Manchester.

              Since then we have participated every year in the local festivities of Saint Pere and of the Virgin of the Misericordia as a recognized festive group for the protocol of the city.
